That one you did but no one could have predicted God's sister from becoming part of anything.
( they'd certainly not known about her when they'd freed her which is a convenient detail she avoids )
There were a lot of things that happened for that event to come to play, most of them happened before I met you. But it's not the only time we've worked together.
You mean after a plan that was borderline suicidal?
( she'd said it then and still agreed now even if rowena had helped them )
It didn't look hopeful, she almost killed him and then somehow Dean had them make amends. They're now-- ( she does a wave gesture with her hand ) bonding somewhere far from us, probably on one of his other universes. Better that they're not near us in case it doesn't go well.
( though there's a pause here now and rowena gets up, moving to her cabinet to pull out her bottle of scotch and two glasses. it's quickly progressing from a tea conversation and really, she thinks he needs it.
but it also gives her time to stall as she pours the drinks for them both, not certain she wants to admit what was happening when she was from. whilst rowena's told dean... sam's been through a lot lately )
Most of the times we've worked together have been much simpler.
[Oh. Right. Another two years. Sam blinks for a moment before shaking his head. He can absorb all this information, but he's still just out of sorts since getting his soul back.]
It's probably good I hear about one of those times.
( give her a moment to think of a really good one as she swaps to her scotch.
except really good isn't a thing )
Well, most of them do involve other witches. Luckily, you have one on your side who's able to help solve that problem.
( as she innocently smiles at him. it's complicated )
Last year you called me to help with something that had happened to Dean. You both had been investigating some murder and he'd ended up hit with a wee curse, one that was rather rapidly obliterating his memory. Fortunately for you, I was able to translate the spell you needed to undo the curse.
Oh, I've been keeping count over the years. You Winchesters owe me a lot of favours.
( appearing sentimental isn't happening today. she might remember their friendship but they have to find it again. he does which means she'll play calm and cool )
I've cast a couple and yeah, I've got a knack for languages. [He takes a sip of the scotch.] Is there anything else? That might make you feel safer around me? i don't want to tip toe if we don't have to.
( one day she might tell him about the prophecy but that wasn't today. in their friendship she did feel safe around him, not worried about that detail but over the past few weeks she'd certainly worried. with his sould back... it was better and only rebuilding would shake off any lingering doubts of hers )
I made certain to keep that soul of yours very secure. It'll take something big to rip it back out.
( just in case he was worried about it shaking loose or someone here touching it. something certainly could but anyone else would have a lot to get around first.
though she didn't know whether that would reassure him or not )
I'd also tell you to ask anything you want, you're the one at a disadvantage here but... small steps, perhaps?
Good. I'm glad. I don't... I don't want to be without it.
[He looks up from his glass of scotch and thinks he hears something, though. Is that the rustling of chains? He sucks in a breath though, and tries to release it in slow exhales.]
I... I guess how'd we meet? I don't remember seeing...
[Is the floor starting to glow red? He blinks and then there's someone very familiar standing behind Rowena. Sam is up out of his seat and stumbling back over it.
( though that story quickly stops at his reaction, her hand leaving her glass and quickly turning behind her in anticipation of what it is that samuel's seeing.
except for rowena nothing is there. though based on the look on his face-- )
Samuel... ( her voice is softer, calm and reaching for him, rowena slowly standing from her own chair ) What do you see?
( she could guess, there are few things that could cause such fear (and based on what he's told her--) but she's trying to keep her mind clear of assumption to help him )
[Sam is climbing back up to his feet, his gaze locked on the image of Lucifer, pacing around Rowena and the table.
Aw. What're you so scared of, Sammy? Little piss in your coffee?
Lucifer turns back to the glasses.
Ooh, I love a good scotch. Mind if I...?
Sam tries to blink the image away as he takes a few more steps away from Rowena. His bandaged left hand goes for a pistol he doesn't have.] You're not real. You can't be real.
( he hasn't said but she knows. and whilst rowena does take a step around the table she lets samuel keep the distance between them, not wanting to spook him even if she wants to direct his attention back to her )
Lucifer isn't here. ( which is exactly why she uses his name, hoping to catch something ) He's never been in this city. But I know that you're seeing him.
( though she holds his gaze, forces herself to, she doesn't answer him. the only answer that rowena has isn't a hopeful one. so she steps forward again, keeping walking until she's also in his space beside lucifer, reaching out to rest a hand on his arm )
You told me that it doesn't go away.
( she does look sympathetic when she tells him, hating that she has to tell him something so hopeless )
But perhaps we can find something. A spell, something to help guard your mind?

I thought we stopped the apocalypse.
[He'd always been better with the time travel stuff, but hearing her talk about God and Amara has his head spinning.]

One day I'll collect.

I at least owe you dinner, if not help with spellwork.
no subject
Real spellwork? ( pretending like she's never taught him a spell in her life ) We might have to refine what you know about witches first.
( but she's smiling, teasing his hunter knowledge rather than more recent events )
But if your grip on languages is as good as I remember... aye, you'll be a dab hand when I need one.

Hey there bunk buddy. You miss me?]

[Looks like I still got big fans. But tough break, big guy. I am real.]
No, you're not. You're not real.

( rowena says it with him, taking another slow step towards him now that she has his attention )
I know that you see him... because I do too. Not right now but he haunts me.
( even after seeing lucifer in the fog with dean she'd never admitted this to him, and if she ever said anything it wouldn't be to the same depth )
I know that you've seen what he looks like, his true face... I know how that feels. But I also know that he isn't in this city.

[He's trying to focus on Rowena even as Lucifer moves into his personal space.
Aw, but I just got here, bunkmate! I would hate to leave before the refreshments are served.]

Sam swallows and shudders slightly. Is he stuck with Lucifer following him around, then? What does he tell Dean?]
Will that work?
no subject
( it's something for rowena to believe in. even if samuel was still seeing lucifer like this rather than just being haunted. he'd done something )
We can find something, Samuel. I believe that.
no subject
[In this moment. As Lucifer reaches out to pat Sam's face.
You just gotta get used to reality, Sammy. I'm real, I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere.
Sam winces and one again puts one foot in front of the other to lead himself away from Lucifer.]
