it's a few more turns before the get to the restaurant, rowena unhooking from his arm to enter first, getting them shown to a table )

[ Johnny sees her rolling her eyes at him and he's used to it by now. So much so that he just smiles and gives her a thumbs up. ]

I know you get worried about me, but I'll be fine.

[ That smile turns into a smirk, his eyebrows waggling a bit, before he lets her enter the restaurant first, following not far behind her. ]

It's concern for me.

( she only continues once they're at the table, and whilst rowena may have some fondness now for johnny it's not quite enough for her to admit that she cares about him. she doesn't even admit those things to herself )

I'd hate to have to find someone to replace you with so soon.

( a little smile before she picks up the menu, opening it to find her order )

[ Johnny just smirks at that because his proud little boy brain knows Rowena's just denying it. That she must care about him and she's just not admitting it. He's not going to push it, though, because he damn well knows it is.

Opening the menu in front of him, too, he replies. ]

Yeah, because I don't think you'd be able to find someone like me in such short notice. Someone cute, gorgeous, hot.

[ He briefly pulls down the menu to smile at her knowingly. ] I think I'll just have the steak.

Perhaps quiet will be what I look for next. Someone... tame.

( except, for all of her current protests, rowena did enjoy that he was confident and knew his mind, even if she wanted to train him better, to know when to keep a lid on that confidence.

she closed her menu, ordering a chicken salad for herself, the steak for him and a bottle of wine )

[ Johnny can't help the snort he lets out when Rowena told him she'd rather prefer someone quiet and tame. That someone will be boring and he hopes she understands that.

Once she's finished ordering, and told him they're finding something for him to do, he gets comfortable, arms resting on the back seat of the chair. ]

Okaaay but what will that be? Like I said, nowhere to sled to. No motocross ramps. Just pure dystopian stuff. It's really boring here when you're not having sex.

( since the tricks she'd used to get money at home weren't quite so applicable here, not when many of the store owners or people she encountered were in the same situation that she was. she wasn't going to swindle them )

( a raised eyebrow because he hasn't shown her that yet. but she's certainly approving of the idea -- working in security would be particularly useful and maybe she'll use that idea to help nudge him towards somewhere she's interested in. in case he heard information )

I've been offering tarot readings.

( something that rowena was very knowledgable in though had practiced less than some of her other talents, more when she needed it than a daily practice. and whilst modern witches had popularised the practice (which she loathed, the accessory of the tool and talent) it was a useful idea for her to pull on now. and it was a simple way for her to make some money now until she found a better way )

Something that many are interested in. A hobby more than a job.

[ Johnny slowly nods, taking in what she just said. He has always believed that people should do whatever they like and Rowena's pretty good with magic, so he approves of this. ]

Hey, pretty good idea! I can see it, you opening a shop. People lining up to get their fortunes. Maybe I can even snag you some customers. Chicks love that kinda stuff.

[ He'll bring it up during their pillowtalks or maybe even tell them they can't have sex with the gorgeous Johnny Storm if they don't get a reading. It'll be perfect! ]

( she's actually slightly speechless by the idea, silenced herself for a few seconds. whilst rowena knows the popularity of tarot and occult shops she's never associated herself with them despite wanting to be surrounded by magic )

What many people view as magic fails to grasp the essence of it. Parlour tricks and... cheap ideas, a look that they take.

( she's very judgy on this but she's not ashamed of the opinions. practitioners, whether they were naturals or students she accepted. people using the idea? it wasn't magic. and it kept her distance as much as borrowers did )

Whilst it might seem fitting, surrounded by magic... magic needs a delicate balance, most don't appreciate hearing that when they wish for a spell.

[ He raises his hands and pouts a little. ]

[ Johnny doesn't want to overstep (yes, wow a miracle) because magic isn't his thing and he knows by now that she gets defensive about the topic. Which, fair. It's her thing. ]

If things go to plan I won't need to work.

( which she says with confidence. part of that plan is squirrelling away the tarot funds, part is seeing where else she can get her claws into. and part is the money he'll bring in. sugar dom with his own money. and she's pretty confident that she can be in this city without being bored, it's a life she's used to.

but they're paused, their meals being brought over, rowena allowing the waiter to pour the wine for her with a small smile )

[ Johnny answers her question with an amused arched brow and a nod. Of course it matters when he benefits because he's the sugar baby here. Truthfully, though, he trusts her plans anyway. But her admittance on him playing a key role gets a playful smirk from him. ]
