[yeah, ignoring that, mommy dearest walks like a lady and fights like a man and this much he knows first hand. he's not sure where she falls on the frenemy scale yet, especially after the stunt she pulled with Crowley after the bar and the attack dog trifecta.]
Back home, the last time I heard from you, you were in the wind with the Book and the Codex.
I dunno what to make of you being here besides the reality that whatever powers on tap for this place blows anything else we know out of the water.
( more recent to her than dear tweety pie, then, though not enough that rowena believes that he'd believe too much of what she said. though maybe that's her own doubts rather than a true belief of him: even with the kindness that both boys have shown to her in recent times she still doesn't actually expect anyone to look out for her. or believe her. castiel may have agreed to work with her for the spell, may have shown her some kindness but she doesn’t expect much more there either.
which means a few things. [1] she's saying nothing about the book, especially the fact that she still owns it. and that they haven't fought her on that recently. [2] definitely not mentioning that she has the black grimoire in the city, even though he hasn't encountered that yet. [3] or that she's more powerful that he ever knew.
or her spell. she won't admit that she tried and failed to fight this power )
Well, we certainly have seen a few incredible things together, unbelievable too.
( though whilst the power behind this place was powerful... did she want to believe it stronger than god? no would be her impulse, otherwise she'd never get out of here )
Though you somehow seem to come up with some reckless plan that shockingly ends up working. Usually.
[Recent enough to have climbed a completely new mountain of crap. Rowena's not his favorite person, but she's not a shoot-on-sight threat either. He's conflicted about her and knows better than to believe anything she says at base value. It's a begrudging friendship, the same way his friendship started with her son years before she ever waltzed back into the picture.]
Oh yeah? I got the highlight reel. I know you take a dive for us, and you help when shit with God and the Darkness go south.
[She was fortunate enough to miss living through future vision when the place got hit with that handiwork. Nothing is worse than knowing what'll happen before it does, and not being able to do anything to stop it.]
( and she'll sound a little bored, more put on than she really feels about talking to him. but there's also something to be said for the situation she's in )
And I know you didn't called just to reminisce, that's not you. So what do you want?
Half to let you know I know you're here, and the rest to maybe figure out where we stand with each other. Bela's here too, and things with Cas 2 Electric Boogaloo are rough but I figure while on this sexy wasteland, I gotta look out for my people, persona non grata or not.
I might not be where you are, specifically, but here in this shit can we're all we've got. So, it's a pact I keep to.
( tucks away the nugget that bela's from their world. they'd flirted information but not traded specifics on which hunters they knew.
there's also quiet for a moment at what he says, a nice idea but not something she's certain she can believe. she hadn't either when castiel had said something similar )
You're the only one who can decide that, I can't make you choose to believe in anything.
( and she wouldn't try to. though she expects a losing battle, knowing that even though she's currently working with them that he doesn't especially trust her. witches. and history )
We might know each other but it doesn't mean I'll be in your business.
( intentionally, anyway. she plans to stay in her little corner )
Yeah, I know, but what I'm aware of and what I've experienced first-hand are two different things.
[Dean lifts a shoulder in a resigned shrug, there's no shortage of what this place can do to people and the kind of tricks they can pull.]
All I'm saying is you don't have to be a stranger either. I don't want be besties, but we're stuck in this together so we might as well use what we know and who we know to our advantage. I've got two businesses and spots open in management at both, and I've been here for more than a year and know the ins and outs of a lot.
Not being in on the whole shtick that landed you and two fallen angels in the clink, I get why I wasn't told, but I would've been on board.
( she doesn't believe him. a small part of her wants to, lured in by the pretty words, but rowena knows words too well. words she doesn't believe, not against what she knows, against being stung by promises before. because that's what she's learned to expect from the world )
Well, if you need me you know how to find me.
( she's not promising anything, nor admitting anything, not touching her spell. but sat in jail currently isn't putting her in the best place either )
Yeah, same to you. Do me a favor and take care of yourself in there. I did half a month once it's not light work but if you and Crowley're cut from the same cloth you'll be running the place inside of two days.
[she doesn't do vulnerable, and neither does he, but that's as close as he'll come to putting out all out there for her. The two of them might not have any history he's lived yet but he looks out for his people.]

but no video for him, not letting him know (yet) of her condition. which is why she takes a moment to make her voice sound perkier than she feels )
Dean. I'd love to offer a solution to whatever ails you but I might have to put you on hold there.
( pretending she's just too busy? of course )
