BRAVE. Rowena is brave and bold, at least this is what she wants you to believe. Rowena wishes to be seen as dangerous, as ballsy, as someone who has no weaknesses, willingly using her magic as she feels fit regardless of the consequences. Rowena craves power but really, she wishes to hide her insecurities, wanting others to be afraid instead of her. This stems from the fears that Rowena has, the traumas that she's encountered in her life and her more reckless and bold actions have become her response to it. However, whilst there is much that Rowena fears she refuses to let these fears stop her from living, instead they become a driving force (to seek out more power) to find her own strength, to overcome what she's afraid of and to fight it. After Lucifer kills her (horrifically), Rowena fears even the mention of him, at first seeming to cower away from any plans involving him. When Lucifer kidnaps her, rather than going along with his plans to save her own life she fights against him, lying to him, casting a different spell to planned and trying to kill him before he could kill her. Whilst she fears him she refuses to let that weakness rule her actions, letting her hate power her instead. Each time Rowena runs into Lucifer she feels stronger, refusing to let his barbed jabs dig into her and instead tries to taunt him, to try and show him that she is not afraid of him, to show him that he has no power over her. It's not entirely true but it's the front she runs with to try and make herself feel strong and brave. Rowena is a survivor and will fight for her life, she refuses to sit in fear or defeat. She refuses to feel weak. Negative Trait: โ
AMBITIOUS. Rowena is an incredibly ambitious witch, wanting to gain as much power for herself as she can and seeming not to care about who she hurts along the way. Rowena's true motivations for her ambitions stem from her desire to survive and protect herself: Rowena has spent the majority of her life being shunned or rejected, first by the father of her child, then by her coven, then by town. Rowena has felt nothing but hurt for the majority of her life, constantly looking over her shoulder and feeling as if she needed to accumulate power just to protect herself. Whilst Rowena is already described as a dangerous witch even when not at her full power she seeks more -- she refuses to feel weak, refuses to let anything potentially defeat her, particularly when she believes that she's the only one who will look out for her. She needs to be able to protect herself. It means as well as seeking to grow her own magic that she seeks out powerful people, making very short-sighted and impulsive decisions to try and ally herself with someone stronger than her. This is seen when she manipulated Crowley to gain Hell's favour, then worked with Lucifer, then Amara, all beings of great power. None of the situations worked well for her, her lust for power made her overlook what a terrible decision it was, but a common trait is that she will suck up to power, even when she doesn't truly believe in the person: if she can gain favour then she can surely gain power and be safe. SELFISH. Rowena's act is all about herself and what she can do for herself, seeming to not care about anyone else. Rowena has made a lot of terrible decisions in her life, trying to justify them based on the circumstances that were in her life at the time. She abandoned her son (after being chased out of town) but never returned for him, claiming that she couldn't be faulted for being a career woman. She sided with Lucifer and Amara, trying to gain more power. She killed man people trying to bring her son back, though justified it as having killed terrible people. Truthfully, Rowena knows that she was a terrible mother and that she has made terrible choices and should have done better ("I'm a flawed, petty, evil creature. I don't know if I can be redeemed"), but it has also taken her a very long time to admit her faults. Rowena's selfishness comes from what has happened to her in her life, the heavy stream of rejection that she faced in her youth. She was abandoned by the man who claimed to love her, she was rejected and shunned by her coven and then chased out of Scotland during the witch trials. These were pivotal moments for Rowena, teaching her to think about herself because no one else was on her side. Hating her son, being cruel to others and only looking out for herself became much easier for her because Rowena viewed love (and kindness) as weakness. Rowena will always look out for herself first because she doesn't believe anyone else will and she will save herself rather than try to help others. When beginning to work with the Winchesters she initially only offered her help if she believed that she can get something out of it in return (her freedom, power, or something powerful). Whilst she has had some growth there, offering her help in an attempt to redeem herself, she still doesn't believe that anyone else is looking out for her. Negative Trait: โ
IMPULSIVE. Whilst Rowena is powerful and wishes to be prepared for anything, she ends up getting too drawn in by her wants. Rowena's desire for power means that she quickly allies herself with powerful people, even when they are known to be terrible people (such as Lucifer). Rowena overlooks this, too blinded by the idea that she could become more powerful if she proves herself to be useful, and ends up quite short-sighted, ignoring any red flags on the hope that she gets what she wants. It leads her to very often double (and triple) cross the people that she's working with, bouncing from one person to the next when her first idea fails. She doesn't have a plan outside of become powerful so it leads her to quickly take opportunities when they pop up instead of thinking about how it might really help (or hurt) her. And given that she has died twice and has made some very powerful enemies her impulsive opportunities usually hurt her. Powers and Abilities: โ
WITCH. As a witch, Rowena's immortal, immune to ageing and disease but able to be killed by other methods. Rowena has been described by others as a very powerful and dangerous witch, given the liberties she takes in using her magic and her history of using it to hurt other people for her own gains. After practising her craft for centuries, she's incredibly knowledgeable about many forms of magic, skilled in spellwork (and creating spells), using hex bags and Enochian sigils or Druidic runes. Rowena is capable of using her magic to heal herself and others, transform people and objects into other things, astral project, move people and objects telekinetically, conjure illusions, curse others (and remove curses) and has an awareness of other magical (or supernatural) beings, being able to sense them. While Rowena knows many spells, she still relies on grimoires to cast spells that she has never used before along with ingredients.
After unlocking the seal on her magic, her eyes glow purple when she uses magic and her spells take a purple hue to them. She is additionally now able to teleport, see Reapers and in general her spells have become more powerful.
Whilst Rowena is incredibly powerful there are many limitations to her. She can be wounded and killed by injury (and will remain dead if her self-resurrection spell is inactive), can be overpowered by stronger beings, is weakened by iron (limiting her power), can be exhausted by overuse of her magic, and if she cannot verbally speak she cannot cast most of her spells. Rowena is also not a fighter outside of her magic nor physically strong and is easily overpowered.

NOTE. Whilst Rowena is incredibly powerful, for centuries she has had a limitation on her magic due to the Grand Coven sealing away some of her power. Whilst she has unlocked her full potential by removing the seal, she recently expended a great deal of magic attacking a Reaper and is currently in a weakened magical state. Though some of that strength will return over time even Rowena stated she doesn't know if her full strength will return. I will also have a hefty permissions post regarding Rowena's magic and won't use it against people without discussion -- Rowena might like to manipulate and control people but she doesn't do it to everyone she meets and I won't cross ooc boundaries. I am also very happy to play by the limits of whatever needs to be set power/distance-wise. She'll be very mad about her magic being limited (again) but it'll give her some motivations to try and unleash herself again (even though she can't).
Rowena also keeps a self-resurrection seal active on her person in case she dies. I'm happy to play by game death rules (especially consequences) even with this, for it to "insta-revive" her at the allowed events and make her come back slowly/normally by game standards otherwise (if she dies). Rowena will also not be able to open portals to other universes, reality warp or summon/banish people into and out of the city. As her spells tend to require ingredients she will have to spend time gathering these.

LINGUIST. Rowena uses Latin for many of her spells, though is also capable of reading and casting spells in other (and ancient) languages, being able to translate the components of them. Inventory: โ
